Bermuda Triangle also known as Devils Triangle famous for disappearances of ships and airplanes. Rumors of existence of aliens and extraterrestrial beings behind all these incidents has been solved now.

Two computer scientists Professor Joseph Monaghan along with honor student David May at the Monash University in Melbourne, Australia came to an evidence from their research that it was the case of methane gas present in large quantities in this area.

"Any ships caught within the methane mega bubble immediately lose all buoyancy and sink to the bottom of the ocean. If the bubbles are big enough and possess a high enough density they can also knock aircraft out of the sky with little or no warning. "

This research was published in the American Journal of Physics.

Easier way to unplug external USB drives

My TCS Interview Experience

First of all I am glad to say that I belong to the family of TATAs. Thank god for giving me such an Awesome Opportunity.TCS was honored with the award of Best pattern for conducting Interviews ahead of other companies.

Coming to my Experience of Written Test at the first glance I felt gloom by the size of the Questions , but soon I was able to recover and moved up with my approach which I have gained from the experience of writing GRE,CAT,MAT. Yup..Finally the exam time is up and we went off. Now my watch ticked 7 O’ clock. You may think what’s new in that…but it was the time when written test results were declared. Finally I got through which I was never expected.

The next day morning was the Technical round, followed my Managerial round and finally HR. It was the time when all of us felt very tensed as we have not at all prepared for the technical round. Overnight I have to cover all my core subjects , my project , paper presentations, certifications etc… and many more. Oops..!! what to do…however I have just touched and left everything remained for my fate. I couldn’t sleep at all on 30^th night.

Technical round was scheduled at 9.00A.M. As usual I was late even for that meet too. Born habits can never be eliminated naa. My actual preparation for Technical round was started at that time only. All my friends were going and coming and I was busy in gathering questions from them and at the same time busy in finding answers for them. Mine was the last person to call for Technical. I was confident enough as I am with all the questions that were asked earlier. But…To my surprise and intense bad luck none of the questions were matched with what I have prepared. However I could manage and clear off that round only because of my confidence which I have gained as I assume that I know everything as I have collected enough info from my friends.. My dear pals..confidence obviously plays a vital role to reach your goal..So be confident or at least act confident even if you don’t know anything. The interviewers are much friendlier than your best friend. Its true. But don’t forget to think that they were Interviewers…not common people..They were tactful enough to acquire your inner feelings only when you feel that they are friendly..

Let me explain with the incident in my Technical round. I was asked to write a program..While I was thinking for that one of the two persons threw a pencil on to the ground. I took it off and gave it to him. At that instant I could recollect the point that I have done a mistake as my senior said they used to do such things to divert you attention. It was repeated once again. Now he threw a pen…I won’t pay attention to that this time..thats obvious.They covered topics on C,DS,DBMS,Java,OS,CN and SE.

Now its the time for Managerial round. I was asked a situation how you would manage if there were ego problems between 2 of your team members .I thought of it for a while and said I would counsel them and trace out the root cause for the problem and finally by personal mentoring I would solve the problem without hurting anyone. After some time the results for MR were announced and fortunately I too got through it and I am eligible for HR.

The same question was repeated in my HR round “Tell me about yourself” . We should not proceed with the routine way of answering, rather apply some creative ideas while answering this question because all your personal details will be mentioned in your Resume itself….then why telling the same words. So try for something different. I have mentioned about my Family background,Strengths,Hobbies and how my hobbies become my strengths. Now I was asked one of the most famous question “Why TCS ? “. I have answered this in my own style. Madam, I have studied about your company,profits,growth and all other things

But let me illustrate you my personal observation about your company. When every company is facing the problem of recession and all other things,the only company which is recruiting thousands of employees is none other than TCS. I think its enough to say that TCS is one of the leading companies in our country. She was little bit impressed. That’s all. Mention about your relatives or friends working in that company you are attending.That will be really worth noting.

Hmmmm…!!! Everything was over. Now it’s the time for results and the time is 10.30 PM. They are announcing one by one and the nanosecond it was declared that I got selected in TCS gave me an immense pleasure and no words to express.

Design a Currency Symbol for the Indian Rupee - Government Contest

Most countries in the world have distinct identification symbols for their currency - $ represents the US Dollar, £ is used for GBP, € for Euro, etc. but there’s still no official currency sign for the Indian Rupee.

While symbols like Rs and रू are commonly used to represent the Indian Rupee, these are no official currency signs and therefore the Government of India has now announced a public contest to pick up a sign that will represent the currency of India.

You may send the symbol on an A-4 size paper in black and white print and that the size of the final currency symbol design should not be smaller than 36 sq inches. 

The symbol has to be either in the Indian National Language Script or a visual representation but should be applicable to the standard computer keyboard. 

Members from Reserve Bank of India and art institutes like National Institute of Design, Lalit Kala, Sir JJ Institute of Applied Art, and othre would comprise the jury that will select the winning currency design.

If you are a creative artist or designer, this is your ultimate chance to create history - if your currency design is chosen, you’ll be forever remembered in history books of the world (and Wikipedia) as the “official designer of Indian currency symbol”.

Yahoo! Messenger and MSN (Windows Live) Messenger users can chat with each other easily without changing clients. Similarly, Google is working with AOL to allow users of Google Talk connect with their AIM buddies.

Here’s a a possible solution to make voice-over IP calls between Google Talk, MSN/Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger for free.

1. If you are on Google Talk and want to voice chat with someone on Yahoo!, add service@gtalk2voip.com as your Gtalk friend and then send the following message to your new buddy:

Access MSOffice 2007 docs with MSOffice 2003

Generally whenever we create Documents in MSOffice 2007,we are unable to open those files with MSOffice 2003 and earlier versions...

Here is the solution for that problem...

Your client just emailed a Microsoft Word 2007 document ending with a .docx extension but you have no clue about how to open and print the file or convert from docx to .doc and other text formats.

You can convert .docx to .doc or extract text from .docx files online using the free Zamzar.com or docxtodoc.com service. Unlike the Microsoft compatibility pack, these docx to doc conversion services do not require copy of Microsoft Office.

It is also possible to open and edit a .docx file in OpenOffice or StarOffice using the free Open XML Translator from SourceForge which converts .docx Word documents to .odf and vice versa.

How to shutdown PC with a timer

METHOD 1

Do you know that you can make your PC shutdown at a time u wish to?

How To Make A Shutdown Timer!

Step 1:

Right click on your desktop and choose "New=>shortcuts".

Step 2:

In the box that says "Type the location of the shortcut",
type in "shutdown -s -t 3600" without the quotation marks and click next.

Note: 3600 are the amount of seconds before your computer shuts down. So , 60secs*60mins=3600secs.

Step 3:

Make up a name for the shortcut and you're done.
You can change the icon by right clicking=>properities=>change icon=>browse.

To abort:

To make an abort key to stop the shutdown timer just create another shortcut and make
the "location of the shortcut" to " shutdown -a" without the quotes.

METHOD 2

Here is another trick to shutdown at a specific time, for example you wish to shutdown at 11:35am. Type this in
start=>Run

Type Code: at 11:35 shutdown -s
to abort

Code:

shutdown -a

take note: all time are in 24hr, example u would like to shutdown at 8:30pm, you should type

"at 20:30 shutdown -s" without quote

METHOD 3

you can use a batch for that as well it makes it easier to use
just run the batch and enter the time you want it to shutdown

How to protect your PEN drive from VIRUS

Many of your PC/laptop's normally gets virus because of Pen Drives or USB devices (Even PC's who are not connected to network ). Some Virus like Ravmon Virus , Heap41a worm which are not detected by anti virus normally spreads mostly by the Pen Drives . In such a case what can you do to prevent your PC from getting infected with Virus that spreads through USB devices or Pen Drives ?

You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below . It won't take much time.

  * Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer .
  * Now a dialogue window will popup asking you to choose among the options as shown in the figure.

  Don't choose any of them , Just simply click Cancel.  

  *Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window .  

 *Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive . Drive letter will be letter next to Removal Disk name or your pen drive name

 *In the Command Window ( cmd ) , type the drive letter: and Hit Enter  

 *Now type dir/w/o/a/p and Hit Enter 

 *You will get a list of files . In the list , search if anyone of the following do exist  

 1. Autorun.inf  

 2. New Folder.exe  

 3. Bha.vbs  

 4. Iexplore.vbs  

 5. Info.exe  

 6. New_Folder.exe  

 7. Ravmon.exe  

 8. RVHost.exe

 9. Diskknight.exe or any other files with .exe Extension .  

 If you find any one of the files above , Run the command attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Hit Enter.

Now Delete each File using the following Command del filename ( E.g del autorun.inf ) .

  That's it . Now just scan your USB drive with the anti virus you have to ensure that you made your Pen Drive free of Virus .

The Million Dollar Homepage is a website developed by Alex Tew, a 21-year-old student from Cricklade, Wiltshire, England to help raise money for his university education.

"Launched on August 26, 2005, the website is said to have generated a gross income of $1,037,100 USD and has a current Google PageRank of 7. The site's Alexa ranking as of January 31, 2007 is 9,669[1], having peaked at around 127."

The index page of the site consists of a 1000 x 1000 pixel grid (one million pixels), on which he sells image-based links for US $1 per pixel, in minimum ten by ten blocks.

A person who buys one or more of these pixelblocks can design a tiny image which will be displayed on them, and also decide a URL which he or she wants them to link to, as well as a slogan displayed when hovering the cursor over the link.

The aim of the site was to sell all of the pixels in the image, thus generating one million dollars of income for the creator, which seems to have been accomplished.

On January 1, 2006, the final 1,000 pixels left were put up for auction on eBay. The auction closed on January 11 with the winning bid of $38,100.00. This brought the final tally to $1,037,100 USD in gross income.

How to Remove W32.USBWorm..!!!

Technical Details :

The name of this Virus is W32.USBWorm and it has Spread from USB/Pendrive.

Creates Folders in every folder and in every drive.

How to Remove W32.USBWorm

* Press Ctrl+Alt+Del.

* Go to Process tab

* Arrange Process name in Ascending Order by clicking on Image Name.

* Now look for services svchost.exe with User Name as System

* Right Click it and click End Process.

* Click Yes if asks for confirmation.

* You may receive one message saying System is shutting down in 60 second, save your all work.

* Here you need to open Start menu à Run and then type shutdown –a to terminate System Shutdown.

* Now go to C:/Heap41a and press Shift+Del to delete all file.

Reinstalling Microsoft Task Manager

To reinstall the Microsoft Task Manager:

NOTE: You must be logged on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group in order to perform this procedure


1.Click Start , click Run , and then type the following command:
%systemroot%\inf

NOTE : There are no spaces at all in the preceding command line.

2.Click OK to open the INF folder.

3.Locate the file mstask.inf

Right-click the file, and then click Install . This will reinstall the files that Search needs to proceed normally.

You will be asked to place your windows XP cd rom in the drive.

Note# I have only tried on XP Pro

Solution for "Folder Options missing"

Many of us sometimes find the folder options missing in windows explorer.

Here's the solution

Open Run and then type "gpedit.msc".

Now goto User Configuration >
Administrative templates >
Windows Component >
Windows Explorer.

Click on Windows Explorer you will find the 3rd option on the right side of screen
"Removes the Folder Option menu item from the Tools menu"

Just check it,
if it is not configured then change it to enable by double clicking on it and after applying again set it to not configured.

I hopes that you will find the option after restarting windows.
